Clovelly Child Care Centre is a safe, happy and sustainable place.
We are a community based, non-profit, parent managed, long day care service. The centre is licensed for 55 children a day and caters for 90 children and 81 families over the week. We are open from 8am to 6pm weekdays but close for annual holidays over Christmas and into January. We are opened for 49 weeks of the year.
The Centre’s program promotes a play-based learning environment and the holistic development of children. We are influenced by many philosophies which include Reggio Emilia, the Early Years Learning Framework, the National Quality Framework and strength-based practices.
The influence of Reggio Emilia has led our centre to focus on arts and creativity as being central to child initiated learning. There is an Art Program that draws from the Reggio philosophy, and art activities are also incorporated into the daily program. We believe children learn by exploration, particularly through authentic mediums such as clay, paint and paper.
Another important aspect of Clovelly Child Care Centre is sustainability. February 2013 saw the introduction of the Kitchen Garden Program, aimed at integrating aspects of sustainability into the day to day program. This learning will be made visible by documentation.
